Smooth Icing With Glaze Icing

Here are the step by step instructions to smooth icing a cake with glaze icing:

  • Dust your cake with a little icing sugar to avoid the butter from the cake from seeping into your glace icing. If you want to cover just the top, cut a long piece of parchment paper (length should be enough to roll around the sides of the cake plus an extra 5 inches).
  • Wrap the paper around the cake tightly and secure with a paper clip. Make sure it is tightly wrapped around the cake or else the glaze will drip to the sides of the cake.
  • Slowly pour the warm glaze on the cake in circular motion, starting from the centre of the cake, moving towards the out edge of the cake. Let the icing to set before removing the paper.
  • If you want to give a dripping effect to the cake, just don’t wrap the cake with parchment paper. Let the glaze drip on the sides of the cake naturally.
