Christmas Wreath Cake

This Christmas wreath cake was submitted by Julie M of Rochester, NY, USA.

Decorating tips by Julie:

This cake was made for a Christmas celebration. It was a simple design, just iced in white buttercream and piped with a medium size beaded border. The wreath on top gave it visual dimension and striking eye appeal, along with the sugar poinsettas. I made the leaves and flowers out of royal icing. It took a little while to get them all positioned on the cake, but it was worth the time!

Valentine Bears Cake

This Valentine bears idea was submitted by Julie M, Rochester, NY, USA.

Decorating tips by Julie:

I did these individual size bear cakes for Valentine's Day. They were iced in chocolate fudge buttercream, with my grass or star tip, to look like fur. Then I added the facial features with black, red, and beige. I placed a cut out cookie heart on the tummy and piped more "fur" to look like the bear's hands were holding the cookie. They tasted SO good!

Harvest Cake

The base cake is 9x15 inch cake covered with fondant icing. I used the impression mat to create leaf vine impressions on the fondant. For the basket, I used the calabash pan and decorated it like a basket with royal icing using the basket tip, then I arranged sugar paste fruits on it. For the handle, I twisted fondant and for the floral arrangement beside the basket, I made a twisted base and arranged sugar flowers in it.

Decorating tips by Julie:

This is a centerpiece cake I did for Easter. It's a two layer carrot cake iced and decorated in a basketweave pattern with cream cheese icing. The fun part about this cake is the pastel color cutout Easter egg cookies propped up on top! The basket handle is wire covered with satin ribbon and tied with a bow. To finish it off I piped green Easter "grass" around the Easter egg cookies.

Father's Day Cake - Cap Cake

This father's day cap cake idea was submitted by Jane Tan of Singapore.

Decorating tips by Jane:

Here is a cake I made for Father's Day recently. My kids wanted me to make a cake for their father on Father's day so I made this cake for them to present it to their father. He has a large collection of caps at home so I made this cap cake. It's made using a half ball mould. The front of the cap was cut out from fondant. The whole cake is also covered with fondant, and the tiny stitch marks and writing were done with royal icing.

Halloween Pumpkin Cake

This Halloween pumpkin cake was submitted by Linda B of Texas, USA.

Decorating tips by Linda:

My son wanted me to make him a pumpkin shaped cake for last year Halloween. I was too busy with work, so I came up with this idea instead. I know my two boys will be fighting over the pumpkin icing, so I made 2 pumpkin designs on the cake. Here is how I decorated the cake:

I am not very good at making designs on cakes so I drew the pumpkin on a grease proof paper first. I cut out the pumpkins, placed them on the cake and marked the design on the cake with a pin.

And the rest of the deco was easy. I followed my markings earlier with black icing. I then used orange icing to fill up the whole pumpkin. The background and sides of the cake is in royal icing. I wanted a really white background for the pumpkins so royal icing is the best. My kids loved the Halloween pumpkin cake.

Easter Cake

This Easter cake idea was submitted by Sharon of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Decorating tips by Sharon:

This is one of my best holiday cakes and I just want to share my joy with everyone.

I wanted to make an egg shaped cake for Easter. No special novelty pans are used. I just baked a sheet cake and cut out an egg shape out of it. The whole cake is covered in fondant ( I used ready made fondant which I bought from my local baking shop) and the deco on the cake is in royal icing. I am not a fan of bright colors so all the icing on the cake is of light pastel colors. The cake turned out very pretty and elegant. I received lots of compliments for both the cake decorating idea and the taste.

Turkey Thanksgiving Cake

This turkey thanksgiving cake idea was submitted by Christine Alves of CA, United States.

Decorating tips by Christine:

I made this cake for a group of Moms that I get together with at a Church I live nearby. We all bring treats for each other and I thought since it was almost Thanksgiving I would make a cake that looked like a Baked Turkey.

I had to shape the cake into a roundish form and the legs are made out of Rice Krispy Treats. Entire cake covered in Fondant and painted with vodka and brown color gel.
