Kids birthday cakes – Idea for a car cake
"This is one of the most creative kids birthday cakes idea I have seen. Thank you for the detailed instructions too!"
Here is a kids car birthday cake idea. I baked this 3D birthday cake for my son’s 2nd birthday. He was so thrilled to see an edible 3D car. The cake was baked using the Wilton car cake pan.

Preparation tips for the cars birthday cake:
I used butter icing to frost the cake. The icing for the body of the car is tinted in peach. I smoothened the butter icing on the body of cake, leaving out the car wind shield, windows and the wheels. Next, using cream colored butter icing, I covered the wind shield and windows. For the wheels, I used black icing. Finally, I added the lights, both at the front and back of the car, bumpers and a mouth for the car.
To make the car look more appealing and real, I outlined the windows with black icing using Wilton nozzle no. 3.
As for the wordings, I used the wilton ready made fondant in blue and used the Wilton alphabet cutters to cut out the ‘happy birthday’ letters. I simply placed the cut letters on the cake and they stuck well to the butter icing without having to dampen the back with water.
Once the cake is done, I placed it on a large rectangle cake board and piped green colored icing for the grass all around the cake.
