Looking for unique birthday cakes idea? Birthday cake designs do not have to be complex for them to be unique. Here is a very simple yet unique adult birthday cake idea.

Things you need :

  • A rectangle sheet cake
  • Fondant
  • Carnations, calla lilies, petunias and other tiny flowers and leaves made of fondant or gumpaste
  • A little royal icing in red for the writing


Decorating tips:

Firstly, you will need to prepare the flowers and leaves. I have used carnations, petunias and calla lilies as the main flowers and used some smaller ones as fillers. You can use any flowers of your choice. Together with some leaves and ribbons, tie the birthday cake flowers into a bouquet.

Next, cut out a plaque in fondant for the birthday message. Leave it aside to set.

Once that is done, cover your cake with fondant. Place the birthday cake flowers bouquet on the cake.

On your plaque, pipe out your birthday message with some royal icing. Place the plaque onto the cake. Finally, finish off decorating the birthday cake with small fondant flowers randomly placed on the cake. Secure them in place with royal icing.
